Department Of Malayalam

Traditional classic art forms of Kerala are not being frequently performed and staged these days. For the same reason, the youth do not get to witness, enjoy and appreciate these art forms. In order to fecilitate the students to have the benefit of a first hand knowledge and awareness of the traditional arts, the Department of Malayalam staged them in the college. The doyen of the Sopanasangeetham, Njarelath Harigovindan and Idaykka mastro Peringalam Sreedharan rendered Sopana sangeetham Demonstration series class in 2012-2013. In the very same year, another class on Chakkiar koothu was performed by Dr. Rajan Nambiar. In 2013-2014, yet another classic art form, Koodiyattam, was represented on stage by Dr. Kalamandalam Sajith and Sri. Kalamandalam Charu Agaru. Demonstration class on Chavittunadakam was represented by Paithrukam Kalakendra, Kalavoor, Alappuzha. The same year witnessed the performance of the tri manifestations of Thullal art form Seethankan Thullal, Parayanthullal and Ottanthullal by the legendary thullal artist, Kalamandalam Prabhakaran
